Now I know I am not cooking anything in this post, but I am an artsy type. Yankee ingenuity is in my blood so indulge me for a minute.
I love doing something different for Holiday gifts. For some reason, when someone tells me what they want, I don’t get it. It is like they are expecting it and I think a lot of the joy come Christmas morning is presenting someone with something they weren’t expecting. Now for those hard to buy for people or even those in your family or circle of friends that aren’t as fortunate as you are or could use that little extra hand, why not give a gift that would truly come in handy? I bought a bright red basket and lined it with the hand towel before piling everything in. Use your imagination. I chose a breakfast basket, but it contains items that can be used over and over again. Choose a lunch, dessert or dinner basket theme, or even one of these ideas:
Just For Her theme-includes bath soap, sponge, candles, new towel, lotion, oil, make up or nail care kit, coupon for a hair-style, coupon from a coffee chop for her on the way to work, massage gift certificate….use your imagination.
Just For Him theme: includes the biggest, thickest steak you can find, his favorite movie, his favorite movie snack, a few bottles of his favorite beer, some freshly baked rolls, a new dinner plate(the size of a frisbee-you would be surprised at how well that will be received)a coffee gift card as well, after shave or cologne…again, you would know the little things that he would enjoy.
So with my imagination running rampant, here is my Breakfast Themed Basket
Included in the basket:
1 lb. thick sliced bacon
1 doz. eggs
1 pkg. pancake mix
Real Maple syrup, and I mean REAL
Hand towel(which I lined the basket with)
Seasonal flavored coffee(I got Pumpkin Spice)
1 can hash
1 biscuit mix(some of us still like biscuits with our breakfast)
2 muffin mixes, each different
1 lb. real butter(or margarine)
A jar of real fruit, or preserves
2 lbs. potatoes
Nonstick cooking spray
And I topped it off with 2 beautiful Christmas ornaments
Now you tie a big bow around this and you tell me if this isn’t a great gift.
